The reason chavis left is...

He himself finally realized he is not an elite dc. He had been at Lsu for 6 years and never had a dominant defense! 2011 was more honeybadger than chavis. He is simply not that good and took the money and ran.

Abe1961 sometimes it is better to put mind in gear before mouth in gear!!! Obviously you are not a very knowledgeable fan so let me give you something to chew on. Here is what Chavis did in his six years at LSU "LSU's defense ranked second nationally in scoring defense (17.1 ppg) in Chavis' six-year tenure and fifth in total defense (309.6 ypg). The Tigers were 11th against the run (125.9 ypg) and third against the pass (183.7 ypg) between 2009 and 2014. "
The only other school in the SEC with better numbers was Bama, so you keep on thinking Chief felt he didn't know what he was doing. It is pretty much been reported already that Chief didn't leave for money he was fed up with Miles inept offenses that couldn't help his defense out. Also it was reported that LSU did match TAMU's offer for the most part. So I don't expect those numbers to sink in with you because when you talk to pumpers irrational exuberance is all you guys seem to understand.

He realized that the offense was making him look bad. He realized that he's lost his touch. He hates coaching for a team that's going to win the NC next year and so he left.
