let's look at Les's view of the situation

if he is so sold on Brick as a solid DC option, why is he walking around getting rejected more than a beta wearing a tie dye dinosaur shirt if he's "all in" on brick? venables, pendergrast, durkin, and now shoop have all rejected us. we're on option 5 (or 6 if you believe the muschamp rumors).

our brand is being tarnished with every rejection. les's image is taking the same hit. there is no way a man of pride like miles would willingly submit to that kind of ridicule if he was really sold on Brick as DC

Who is defending the Brick option?

I have seen those that would like to see how things go before calling it the worst thing to ever happen like some on here are saying. Is that not rational?

You arguing with yourself again?

there have been countless posts defending the option, or making commentary like this "why is brick a bad option?"

he's obviously not a good option to Miles

It's obvious that Brick interviewed for the job and turned it down.

I'm still skeptical that this is even an option at this point.
A lot of the Haley speculation has been fueled by radio hosts that have proven to not know anything.
Just look at the freak outs people have had. Some were sure so sure LSU was offering Stoops. Some were so sure LSU was offering Steele.
Idiots on here run with that. That was all proven wrong.
No one knows anything but you have to admit, LSU fans on this site ONLY assume the worst out of everything and that gets annoying quick.

The brand is already tarnished by LSUs perpetually dismal offensive attack. To have 2 good offenses in almost a decade with the kind of talent LSU has. Let's face it, the brand is already tarnished, as is the image of Les Miles. Les Miles stubbornness and quirkiness is finally being exposed for what it is. A hindrance on the sidelines prone to obvious blunders. No DC wants to come into that.

Add in the fact, that if the DC does fail, which is a strong possibility if the offense can't turn it around. Either they leave here a failure and are a scapegoat for Miles, or Miles goes and they're still out.

I see the LSU job right now as a no win situation, and no around of "brand power" can overcome it.

How do you know we were "rejected" by all of those guys? Shoop obviously chose to stay where he was, fine. But there's no evidence we talked to Durkin. Venable signed his extension with a huge buyout before we even started looking. And CP apparently wanted to bring his own guys which doesn't work for us. You make it sound like Les has been begging people to take the job and getting laughed at.

I just wish we had a earlier start on this search. Seems like we've ran into guys that were simply more unrealistic than we thought.

Miles is searching for the best hire.

He's trying to do his due diligence in this hire.

The problem with that is, these other coaches get threatened by their current employers to either take the job or stay.

So since Les doesn't have an answe for them, they stay.

By him taking his sweet arse time, he's going to end up with Brick.

And he's not going to hire Coach O to be the DLine coach.

Ending up with Brick with no O on staff is the worst possible outcome of this search, and that's the path that we are on.

that is not true. i've been optimistic about pendergrast, durkin, and shoop. this board largely rallied behind them. each kind of got an analysis with some guys being worried, but nothing irrational.

but rejection, rejection, and RE-jection are starting to take its toll. you can't expect the fans to keep being positive when we're past our primary options, leaving the secondary guys, and are soundly approaching tertiary status

More scenarios with no factual backing that assumes the worst.

You call it rejection where a guy gets a pay raise at his "dream school" to stay? That would be rejection in the loosest terms.

We never had any reported interaction with Durkin so that doesn't really matter.

No one knows what happened with Pendergast.

I think it needs to be stated again. Where is the evidence that Durkin was ever contacted?

Yeah, the late start has really hurt us more than anything.

Durkin didn't want to come here. LSU targeted him, but he said no thanks; he had a job.

So we didn't really have any interaction then and he had a job lined up. Not really "rejection"
