I don't know if the guidelines are the same as getting screened for prostate cancer? If so I should be getting screened for both my prostate and colon at 44 due to hereditary.

I turned 50 recently and I have mine scheduled - I thought it was at age 50 unless family hereditary has been affected.

If you have a family history of colon cancer, 44 is way too long to have waited... You should get one soon.

I had one done when I turned 32 but I had a couple of family members turn up with colon cancer so I had it done.

Have fun with the prep fluid.

Not trolling. I'm asking a genuine question. I know it's been answered before. I'm 32 and due to hereditary predisposition to cancer I will more than likely die before age 65 if not possibly before 60.

The procedure isn't bad. The prep is a life changing experience. Schedule your procedure for the first thing in the morning.

I understand. I'm not trying to bust your balls, just figured that serious a question is better addressed with your physician. Need one of those too, if you don't already have one. getting older is a bitch.

I had mine at 50 which I believe is the norm without family history. With family history, don't ask anyone but a competent doctor as to when you should have it and at what frequency.

ETA: And by the way, go out and drink some beer afterwards - best cheap buzz you will ever get because there is literally nothing left in your body.

I've always heard 40 is the usual age. I would say that unless you have a family history of it, then I would get it around 35 because you don't want to frick with colon cancer.

I have a history of it in the women in my family. I don't know if it has the same risks for the men but I will get tested down the line to be sure.

Age 50, unless there is a family history of colon cancer.

Then get one when you are 10 years younger than the age your family member was diagnosed.

If you have a family history of some of the familial cancer syndromes, get one now.

This is the correct answer. I had one and the day before sucks but the day of is no big deal since you sleep through it.

Insurance will usually cover it as a wellness benefit (Free) beginning at age 50, but that doesn't mean you should wait that long. Honestly, I think it's something that should be screened every 5 years.

Except for A LOT of air.....they pump air up your arse to get a good view of things. You'll spend a hour or 2 farting....but no smell

For most men the age is 50, unless you have a history of colon cancer in your family.

For Prostate, I am not sure. I asked my dr about this and I started getting tested in my mid 30's and he said that was a little premature. I got freaked out after my mom died from cancer. I know it isn't hereditary obviously. Just got in my head so asked the dr to do a psa test on me. Came back clear.

I have heard the prep is way worse for the colonoscopy then the procedure itself.
