Proposition of expanding the definition of a "football move"

We all know now, for better or for worse, what the definition is for a football move. We learned it through either advantageous or disadvantageous actions and calls on the field. Decisions were made sometimes quickly or after long deliberation under the hood.
I propose to expand what a football move is in one way to make make more sense to the game of football and the way it is supposed to be played.
That addition is the player's thought process or intention during the play. My best example to explain this is as follows:
The player catches the ball and begins to tuck it in and turns up field, steps once, then gets hit by a defender and ball comes out. He then proceeds to scramble for the ball that popped out of his grasp.
In his mind, he fumbled the ball. So he made a football move to reclaim the ball he lost.
The rules now dictate that the play would go under review and likely the call would be incomplete pass.
But in my proposed addition to football move, it would be a fumble.
This would bring the game back to what it is supposed to be; more of a sport. When did rules get so nit-picky?

I hate the stupid bobbling the ball isn't a catch rule.
As long as your hands don't come off the ball, who cares if it was moving around in your hands/arms a bit when you stepped out. As long as you don't drop the ball or bobble it up in the air, you caught it.

I disagree with that, but I do feel my expansion works in your case if the player was moving the ball to be tucked into the other arm, or something.
