SIAP but OU's offensive coordinator got the axe this morning. OU blogs are talking Jake Spavital as a replacement, prolly just wishful thinking.

Jay Norvell was fired a few days ago too. Mike Stoops looking around obviously, major turmoil for Okies.

They should go after one of those guys from TCU

I agree, and the only "reason" given in the blogs were he's a native Oklahoman and wants to come home.

What is Applewhite up to ? Would we ever consider him as a Quarterback /Offensive assistant ?

It's amazing how he has kept his job while all of his assistants get the axe every other year. OU can get a BIG TIME coach. Stoops has proven to not be that.

The guy has been to the National Championship game either 3 or 4 times.

Y'all can take Spavital. Not a fan of his play calling, although he was better against West Virginia.

Wishful thinking on A&M's part. Spav is a truly terrible play caller.

Who are these available big time coaches you speak of?

I was thinking the same thing... Why go after Spav? His play calling seems questionable. But he is young and will probably get better.

But then I realized that most of these moves are made with recruiting in mind. Stoops prob thinks having Spav will give him a much needed boost

The OU job is not attractive right now. There are four legit options in-state for Texas kids right now in Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, and TCU. It's tough for OU to steal Texas kids right now, and there isn't a lick of talent in that state. For instance, LSU would be a lot worse if they were only relying on Texas talent. They get their share, but the core of their team comes from Louisiana, an advantage that is essential to college football success.

Like Texas and Florida? Michigan lucked up with Harbaugh, otherwise they'd be in the same boat.

not to mention LSU, Arkansas, and Mizzou recruiting the state hard too.
