I have one. At first, it was shooting very inconsistent until I found the right round for it. Once I started shooting Fusions, all was good.

It is a versatile gun that you can use throughout the season.

ETA: I have never shot mine at an animal either.

I have a T/C Encore in .35 Whelen. It really is a badarse round. The rifle does pack a punch, but it gets the job done.

I just bought a cva whelen but haven't sighted it in or used it yet. What few folks I asked before I bought seemed to give it a good rating. I have a TC encore too with 50 cal and 30.06 barrels. Buying another barrel was almost as much as another gun and couldn't get it when quick enough. Thanks for the info.

Excellent round, and the CVA is an affordable option. Go ahead and shoot Core-lokts; mine doesn't like Hornady ammo, which is the choice for a lot of people shooting the TC.

One of our biggest sellers. We have had some issues with barrel burrs and hammers that wouldn't cock, and apparently a lawsuit is coming because several of the rifles have blown up.

It really is strange the way each one of them shoots ammo differently. My father and I have the exact same gun. His loves Core-lockts. Mine shoots them OK, but I can stack the Hornady Supraformance on top of each other in mine. His doesn't group the Hornady round in anything tighter than a 3" group at 100yds.

It hurts a lot of animals badly! I love shooting pigs with it.

Where do you work? I can't seem to find anyone who stocks CVAs in 35 whelen, though I'll admit I haven't exactly scoured the earth.

Figures. You guys stock T/C too? I'm kinda on the fence between those two.

I was told by someone who works at Cabelas that the 35 whelens were coming back with problems. But I don't know if it is the cva or the Remington. I bought my gun from a mom and pop outfit in Woodworth. Haven't shot it yet. Bought the 200 grain Hornady loads

I have a T/C Encore in 35 whelen and love it. The problem with these single shot crack barrel rifles is they are very susceptible to headspace issues and are prone to developing slop (looseness) in the hinge and lock up mechanism.
With the T/C, these problems are easily fixed for just a few dollars and you can do it yourself. You can swap out a hinge pin or a lock up spring to remove this slop and even shim the breechface forward to fix headspace problems.
