How long can we go without a DC announcement before it affects recruiting?

I don't get the feeling there is any urngency on LSU's part to get the replacement in. I can understand that getting the wrong replacement would be much more impactful than getting the right person in late. But, let's get the right person in a hurry - right?

You'll put yourself farther back by making the wrong hire than missing out on a recruit or two.

Some things can't be rushed.
You can't make this hire until you are ready. Nothing is as important as making a good hire...not even the recruiting class.

Yup. Unless you're talking about missing out on 2 PP/Dorsey type guys that can perform regardless of scheme.
Take your time and you miss a guy or two but success on the field pays future dividends.
or
Rush to get a guy, maybe get a few recruits, but risk the guy sucks and hurts the program.
