Question for any HR gurus on the rant... With LSU being a public institution, wouldnt they have to post the job opening ? And the second part of that question is wouldnt we be able to see who applied for the position ?

I think it may have to be posted, but I know not all states have to release who applied. Not sure where Louisiana is on that.

Job has to be posted and Joe Blow can apply, interviews are conducted based on experience.

Since reading these replies, i dont think they have to post it and no one can actually apply and miles gives interviews to the least experienced person.

LSU football is not public. It is part of TAF which is not part of LSU.

My sources tell me Joe Blow will not interview but may be named DC anyways. Should happen in a day or so.

I get him confused with Jack Schitt, not so well well known around here.

Not to mention, hiring Joe Blow will just make the Aggs even more jealous.

This shite right here. People always complaining about money spent on athletics and salaries, etc, when there is an "institution" to run. LSU is one of a handful of universities in the country that the athletic department is a separate entity from the university. In other words, school money doesn't pay Jack shite for athletics, and the amount of money spent on coaches and what not do not affect the university at all.

It is still a state job. TAF may run LSU football, but they do not own it. The majority of Chavis', Cameron's and Miles', and Wilson's salaries are paid by TAF, but each makes more than $500,000 from the state, as well (other assistant coaches also draw a portion from the state). The athletic department eventually "pays it back" each fiscal year but they draw checks from LSU A&M College just like professors and janitors do.
