McGriff is only part of the problem if it was his idea to have soft man coverage against Atlanta in the opener...

He did not draft SJB or sign Bailey.

He made Harper and Jenkins look more than solid last year.

He lost the team's no.1 FA signing to injury for the year.

He was given Corey White and Patrick Robinson to be starters.

He was not responsible for Greer's career coming to an end and not replacing him.

McGriff would most likely only be a scape goat firing.

Now Defensively Bill Johnson, Joe Vitt and Brian Young should go.

Strength and Conditioning Coaching should be looked at.

so we fire the ASSISTANT DB coach, but not the ACTUAL DB coach.

sounds legit.

this is deck chair shuffling on the titanic until more/bigger moves are made.

I didn't necessarily agree with that cut either. The secondary is atrocious for reasons other than just coaching.

That DL though was suppose to be pretty special and it was not even average. Considering the financial investment there that is unacceptable. (I include Galette due to never seeing him play in coverage negates his LB title.)

Well, our secondary was obviously much better last year for two reasons:
-Better pass rush
-Jabari Greer

Take both of those out of the equation, and a lot of people will be pointing fingers at the DB coach. Keenan Lewis pretty much held as much ground as he could this year, even barring that knee injury. If we get a legit CB#2, then our pass rush will look much much better than it actually is. Also, I think McGriff did a pretty good job last year, so I'm willing to give the guy a chance to prove himself with whatever DB we will be getting this off season.

Yeah, the first 3 firings make little sense. This better be the beginning before bigger names start rolling. And why Malone? It isn't his fault Jimmy has some kind of major injury the best couple of years. You figure the emergence of Josh Hill is enough to save his job.

Vandy must have gotten someone else to lead the mighty 'Dores defense.

He taught Corey White how to cover and was in charge of developing Stanley Jean Baptiste. Not even Vanderbilt would accept that resume.
