Had two toilets all of a sudden start leaking/refilling the tank frequently. What's the best route to go?

figure out where the leak is.

buy the correct fluidmaster at home depot.

profit.

dont overbuy..there are various fluidmaster kits and you should spend about $10 on the fix.

If this is the only issue, it may just be the stopper thingy that has to be replaced (eta, the flap). I did it on one of mine recently because I noticed the tank was leaking and refilling. It's like $5 and two minutes. A bit less hassle than replacing the whole fill mechanism.

I agree with Y.A., however for a couple more dollars I would just go ahead and buy this one.

Is that a pee or poop flusher? Where does the button go?

Sometimes hard water deposits form around the ring of the flapper not letting it seat correctly . Try cleaning and scrubbing ring/seal with vinegar first. Easy first step troubleshoot

button goes where handle is. Top button is for #1 bottom button is for #2. Works awesome and saves water for pee pee only flushes

Installs in 3 minutes

Ok. Most I've seen have the button in the center of the tank top. My wife would probably like that. She's always trying to save the world a little bit at a time.

no. its going to be greasy as frick and you're going to have that all over your hands.

just buy a new one and swap it. its $5 and not worth the hassle to try & clean one that is disintegrating.

I figured those would be significantly more expensive.

those are purpose built button flush toilets. This is a retrofit kit. Another cool thing is the water jet at the bottom of the tank that doesn't allow deposits to settle down at the bottom of the tank. Always keeps the deposits moving and flushing down the drain.

Nice work

One of them is kind of loud when it refills. Is that normal?

I find that all of them are pretty much crap...about once a year, I just spend about $20 and replace all in the house...

Yes you can get black grease/film on your hands , but I used vinegar and paper towels 3 years ago . No problems since
