Despite the extension, Venables has drawn interest, the person said, from LSU after the departure of defensive coordinator John Chavis to Texas A&M.

We better bring it with the salary and get a guy that is proven. If not whomever fricked up the Chavis deal needs to go.

Signed last month but it just now leaked? Sounds like it was leaked now on purpose as an attempt to get LSU to back off.

I don't see anything in that article that rules out Venables. He signed the extension last month but Clemson had not publicly announced it. It may make Venables less likely to bolt but it's different than if he had signed the extension after being contacted by LSU.

However, it still seems like Pendergast is the most likely choice.

Why would coach O take the d-line job? He's been holding out for a head job. I could see him taking a DC job to settle and jump quick to a head coaching oppertunity, but nothing below that.

Kevin 70 points to WV Steele. He is the reason we got Venables, so i guess there's that...

I hope for LSU's sake they only look at him as a position coach.

The guy that:

- gave up 70 points

- engineered the greatest frick up in the history of Baylor football

- was beaten up by his own players while with the Oilers

Lol if LSU signs Steele. The difference between he and Venables is so night and day it's laughable. Steele set our defense back decades and in no time Venables has us dominating again.

O and Venables isn't leaving Clemson for anything other than a HC position.

The last I saw Venables only makes around $900k. I could think of 500-600k more reasons he might leave.
