I got the Playstation 4 Gold headset, and while it's not crap, you're gonna wish you shelled out another 50-70 bucks for something better.

It certainly gets the job done and is a solid headset, but it is a step down from your Turtle Beach set. I went through this exact same thing.

Get a nice pair of open air headphones.

Bro, just pay the money and get a set of Astros. You won't be disappointed at all.

Astro A30's ($99)

About 300 bucks for the a50's.

If you like mic monitoring, though, I've read they are not good on the PS4.

Bottom line: you're going to be overpaying for a set of headphones if you want wireless, unless you get a mod mic or something.

You do realize that the PS4 controller is where you plug your headset into correct? Therefore, wires really shouldn't be a huge deal. Especially when it comes to Astros. There aren't multiple cables or anything like that. It's one singular 3.5mm cable that goes from the headset to your controller and you get full surround sound.
