Venables is the Only Answer

As someone who follows both Clemson and LSU, the only person LSU should call is Brent Venables. He's the best Defensive Coordinator in the game and he would bring back a Saban-esque defense.
One of the most attacking DCs out there. Lead the nation in TFLs the last two years. DL and LBs will fly around the ball like they used to at LSU.
As a Clemson fan I pray it doesn't happen, but they should call him and only him until he tells you no.

I'm excited if this is the hire but I want Pendergast/Orgeron better

I think he's definitely on the short list.
But, he has been up and down in his career. Maybe I'm missing the boat, but I'm not sold.

Venables or Pendergast and we don't skip a beat. I'm excited. thanks chavis but sometimes change is great.

The downs have been as a Co-DC. I think it's obvious from the destruction Mike Stoops has brought on the Oklahoma defense that he had a helluva lot to do with those downs than Venables.
People forget, the Clemson defense Venables inherited had just had 70 dropped on them by West Virginia. Then the first year he forces LSU into 8 three-and-outs in a bowl game, leads the nation in TFLs the next year, and the following year he has the #1 defense in the nation.
