quote:

“That was one of the reasons why the nations that are party to the United Nations framework convention on climate change have embraced a global goal of keeping the increase below the 2 degrees Celsius.” “To have a better than even chance of meeting that goal would require global emissions of carbon dioxide to be about 50% below their 2005 value by 2050 and close to zero by 2100. That will not be easy, but with appropriate leadership from the United States, China and the other big emitters it can be done,” Holdren continued.

For all of you who's religion is science, here is what scientist are saying we have to do to save the earth. Are you on board with this science?!

The only way to make this happen. Is to cease all industrial activity worldwide (including most generation of electricity), and kill off almost all mammals or other animals that survive through aerobic respiration.

But this is science. Do you hate science?

Isn't it funny/ sad to watch us slowly self destruct as a species? When we get to near zero CO2 emissions, will we finally be satisfied?

It blows my mind that some people think that we can control the weather and climate. Ah, the arrogance of man.

But it also shows the liberal mind. Everything works in theory.

Zero is an absurd goal. I think 2% is within reach.

If we'll all just band together and stop breathing, we can save the planet!

There is a tiny group of people that think that man is the problem and if we were eliminated, the earth could thrive.

That's funny. Maybe Lebron and the Notre Dame women's basketball team can wear t-shirts with a picture of the globe and this caption?

It's all BS. Just pass a law that prohibits carbon atoms from combining with oxygen. Plant life will evolve with appropriate govt subsidies.

So now only the planets own CO2 emissions, which have been shifting and altering Earth's weather for billions of years will cause natural climate change?

I understand that obviously we are not doing any good by pumping our own emissions and pollutants into the air and that science aimed at preserving out environment and livelihood as as species must be used and looked at in a longitudinal sense but come on, if this even close to Feasible in the next few hundred years?

If CO2 emissions are driven close to ZERO, what will happen to plants and vegetation?

Plants and vegetation use CO2 in the photosynthesis process?

Just asking.....

This is the question that should be asked to Obama's top scientist because he's the genius who said it.

Why not solve the problem by taxing carbon emissions or by selling carbon credits?

Why don't we solve it by stop pretending we can control the earth and it's natural cycles?

Or kill off about 6 billion people.

and you are the genius that lacks the ability to read and comprehend

you people crack me up commenting on the simplest of topics and dont know a goddamn thing about it...humans and animals, and im exaggerating here because its so tiny, contribute 1/1000 of a percent of the C02 that industrial processes emit. And probably 1/1000000 of a percent natural processes do. This zero percent is a projection to lower the industrial production of C02 over and above what is naturally emitted by plants, volcanoes, inorganic chemical reactions...etc.

Figure 1: Global carbon cycle. Numbers represent flux of carbon dioxide in gigatons (Source: Figure 7.3, IPCC AR4).

It has nothing to do with how much CO2 will be on the planet to allow respiration for plants and animals.

Humans skew the concentration by producing 33 gigatons of CO2 above what is naturally processed yearly by the planet and that causes the rise in C02 because about 40 percent of the CO2 is not absorbed into the carbon cycle and is left to accumulate and that would not be there if humans werent doing it.

What was the human population of the planet those 134 magical years ago?

Livestock?

Their contribution of evil CO2 isn't the insignificant number you claim.

But, hey, taking industrial sources to zero will take care of that pesky mammalian problem anyway.

(CNSNews.com) - White House Science Adviser John Holdren says the global goal is to have world-wide carbon dioxide emissions “close to zero by 2100.” He admitted, "That will not be easy."

Why don't you address this instead of going on rants?!
