She actually did it. It's based on a true story.

ETA: the lady, not Reese Witherspoon

I've seen the trailer, and interviews with the woman it's based on. Looks interesting.

It was a good one. Reese was great. Love Jean Marc Vallée. Was watching an interview with him and he was saying how when they went to shoot, they covered up the mirrors so Reese couldn't see how she looked. He also made sure nobody helped her do anything (no instructions on how to set up the tent, etc.) because the real lady had no idea how to when she set out.

Laura Dern stole every scene she was in. Amazing casting for this movie.

I didn't want to give it away - that's why I stated attempts.

I think this is the best movie of the year. Reese and Dern were amazing. I was sobbing like a bitch, however I did happen to see it on the anniversary of losing my dad to cancer.

Evidently the book is a hit with older women because our theater was packed with them.

Decent movie but nothing special. Appears to be an Oscar grab by Witherspoon but she/movie fall short.

Made me want to never go hiking ever.

I've been wanting to watch this movie for a while. I love movies like this. Into the Wild is one of my all-time favorites.

Still haven't been able to find a stream on the internet.

i agree with this. I'm not sure if they were trying to get me to feel bad for the cheryll or not. she was a pretty shitty person. some parts were good, some were very slow.

nice tits though.

Why didn't you mention the drug problem and having sex with strangers and such. Her personal demons is what makes the journey even more incredible imo

Good movie to go to with wife or girlfriend. She will love it, and a guy will like or at least tolerate it. I liked it due to interest in hiking and how fine Reese is even when nasty.

I think I saw in the credits that the real Cheryl's daughter played 6 year old Cheryl.

Stay for the credits. They eventually show several pics of the real Cheryl on the hike.

Enjoy. It's not for everyone but I think it's one of the better ones from this year.

Very good movie. Definitely one of the best I've seen this year.

ETA: This past year, I mean.

Was hoping it'd have a little more PCT/hiking focus, but still pretty good. I didn't read the book but my mom and sister had so I knew something about it.
