Observation about "The Wire" I never thought of before - SPOILERS

They had not problem at all killing off major characters, but they didn't kill off hardly any cops, and no major characters that were cops.
The only cop I remember being killed in action was the one Presbo shot

did you notice how the Barksdale gang panicked after they shot Greggs in season one? you get too much heat for shooting at cops.

Shooting a cop brings way too much heat. Even Marlo left them alone.

There was no incentive to any of the criminals to kill a cop on the show.
The criminal element was almost always pragmatic and when they got impulsive, it cost them, (Stringer, Avon, Omar).

He was in Carver's DEU and got shot early in S3 attempting a buy/bust. Was probably the last straw that pushed Major Colvin ahead on Hamsterdam.

What about the first wake and Landsman eulogy? I think it was season 3, but can't remember the name of the cop or whether he was killed in the line of duty.
