Going to Austin for NYE and looking for a good spot the night before and not mexican food as we should get plenty of that on the trip. Staying downtown but any suggestions are good. Thanks

What do you mean by "good spot"?
Lamberts is great for upscale bbq.
Asti is good for Italian. In Hyde park.
Barley Swine
Swifts Attic
G'raj Mahal - Indian

Was there last weekend for the first time to see the Black Keys and see the city.
Great time, and cant wait to get back.
Wife and I had a great dinner at Searsucker. It is downtown and shouldnt be far from whereever you are staying (5 min cab ride from the Hilton).
Really cool vibe and great drinks / food.
Highly recommend

Fixe Austin. Just opened on Christmas Eve. One of the head chefs is from Opolousas. It is on my wife and I's short list for NYE.
