We probably agree more than it appears. Merry Christmas.

But part of it, you are supporting mayors, judges, attorneys and a police force for a town of 800 or 1200 people

This is so common all over the country. Here in Ascension Parish just northwest of New Orleans, the hassle of sustaining this bullshite finally caught up to the town of Sorrento and they just recently shut down their police dept. They were embroiled in scandal after scandal and its chief recently raped a woman in his office.

Sorrento has about 900 or so people there. To compare, there's a high school in in the ten miles up the interstate and it has about 1800 students five days a week and they cram them into a few big buildings and it only has one sheriff's deputy assigned to it.

If you have to depend on traffic tickets to keep your city afloat you probably shouldn't have a city or a police department.

This is a goddamn epidemic.

There are way too many towns all over the country that are way too small to have a dept and should leave policing up to the Sheriff's Office and State Troopers assigned to the parish/county.

It is about stealing money from strangers, because that's what small towns have decided they want to do in order to maintain their fiefdom and see how far they get paying for the police department and municipality they can't afford to honestly maintain. It's despicable fiscal nonsense and a perversion of law enforcement and whatnot.

Either you can afford a PD or you can't and have to let the Sheriff's Office and State Police Troopers handle things.

Also, Fines are a direct and perverse incentive for corruption and for police officers to prioritize likelihood of gaining a fine over actual safety concerns. That's why you find so many cops on near deserted roads late at night. Meanwhile, in places where actually catching a speeder is more challenging due to heavier traffic, cops are near invisible.

I do like having conversations with you. I like hearing the other side of arguments.

Officers get nothing from fines so how can that make them corrupt?

Unless you have lazer then it is almost impossible to run radar in heavy traffic.

I agree, but in some states State Troopers don't answer calls. They only work traffic, Ms is a good example of this.

Well I feel cheated now. I only get hourly pay.

I don't like those practices at all. I get paid for a hourly wage.
