The fact that we won 10 games in 12 with all our injuries is crazy. The announcers mentioned it every game. That O-Line was in shambles.

Don't undermine his attempt to go back 13 years and downplay the excitement of that season simply because Saban was HC.

So stating facts about the 2001 season is down playing it? It's a fact that 2001 lsu was stocked full of NFL talent. Its a fact that 2001 lsu lost 3 games.

Oh i know. Ive never seen a cfb team have so many injuries.
We lost 3 starting olineman, starting rb, 2nd string dt, 2 starting lbs to injury, and TM7.its wild. We had a championship team but injuries destroyed us.

It's pretty hilarious how butt hurt people get when the bull shite they spew on here gets flipped on them. So they lash out and make excuses.

Unreal how many lsu "fans" make excuses for a coach that not only doesn't coach lsu anymore but now at Bama while shitting on their current coach.

What does that have to do with losing 3 games in 2001 with nfl talent at every position?

It was younger talent though. That 2001 class was a monster.

Let's not forget the brilliant offensive out put by the one and only Jimbo Fisher. Yet while saban and fisher get blanked, some how its still Miles fault.

Exactly. Like said earlier
Saban loses AT LEAST 3 games 4 out of 5 years= lsu is top 5 program when miles takes over in 2005 and Saban ascends to Demi God status
Miles gives LSU fans the most successful decade in lsu history and Miles held back the lsu program and is in moron status.

Bradie James didnt play on the 2003 championship team.

Yeah, because he was drafted in 2003, genius. His senior year was 2002, making him a junior in 2001.

Gonna disagree with you there.

But most of the team was young. You named 10 players. It takes about 45 players to make a good football team.

Eric Alexander
Michael Clayton
Eric Edward
Randall Gay
Devery Henderson
Jack Hunt
Marquise Hill
Chad Lavalais
Adrian Mayes
Stephen Peterman
Marcus Spears
Corey Webster
Ben Wilkerson

All of these players were freshmen or sophomores in 2001.

I think the OP is trying to make some roundabout argument that Saban isn't that great. Pretty stupid.

He's saying Miles is getting ripped for all the same stuff that Saban did, and that people forget that Saban was far from perfect when he coached LSU.

The difference is that Saban was building the program. He never let the bottom fall out.

So you were cool with the mediocrity that Saban put us thru all those years but one?

The 2001 team won the SEC. They don't have to brag about specific stats because they won the conference.

If Saban had stayed and gone after 2004 and gone 5-3, 4-4 in the SEC in 2005/2006 fans would have been bitching just as much.
