More often than not these quality brands that go out of business didn't make it for a reason... A lot of the companies listed did not produce quality products and there service sucked.

No. They still exist in other states. They are in LA for sure. A friend in KY recently mentioned going to one for ice cream.

Thanks for sharing this. Until your post inspired me to do a little research, I didn't know much about the history of this interesting company.

Pontiac was ORIGINALLY a great company and made some great vehicles. The Aztec was a car ahead of it's time, the build quality was poor but it was very functional and a good concept. Just poorly executed.

I was all for Pontiac's execution.

I actually like GM. I drove new Avalanches from '05 to last year. They had the same design team as Aztek. And there were some funked-up OEM Avalanches with the excessive plastic cladding which I avoided.

Overall, GM needed the separate Pontiac and Oldsmobile brands and divisions like a mullet needs two more banjos.

If you ever happen the misfortune to drive a Aztek or Starfire, you'll not mourn Pontiac.

I loved Godfather's Pizza, and a few are still around but most are attached to, or part of, a convenience store.

Jesus Gawd, it was just a nameplate of GM which is still in business. It needed to be kilt. Here's the stupefyingly bad Pontiac Aztek (automotive version of GDCK, a "kill with fire")

My grandfather thought about buying one of those when they came out but decided against it when we told him it was the ugliest car ever made.
