It looks so awesome when it works, but like the midrange jumper in basketball, it's not a wise play statistically for the majority of players.

Stupid fricking college and high school coaches see Manning and Brady do it to perfection in the NFL and think "hey let's do this! My kid is basically Peyton manning!"

The guy CMU threw to was like their 3rd WR. It's so insane.
You basically give the defense an extra defender named "the sideline" and another named "extremely difficult to execute"

Yeah, in the nfl it's more about the stud WR than the about the pass.

It was a shite throw...gotta hit that back side shoulder so the wr can box out the defender

Exactly.
That whole defense was sucking fricking wind the whole quarter and you basically made it a 1 on 1 situation instead of making those linebackers work to defense the middle

Then why call that play if the QB isn't good at it?
And that WR was like 5'9. He's not boxing anyone out
Eta okay he was 6'3 apparently but he still wasn't towering over anyone

Even if manning was your QB, there are tons of other plays with higher chance of success. I've always hated that play. It seems to rarely work.
