If what they say is true my first step would be to have video go viral of altercation, especially the one supplied by Varsity. Post on here and all over social media then send it to the local news outlets. Next step would be to use the public support to land a big time lawyer on the cheap. Last step, Sue for millions.
Now since I have only seen maybe 0.00001% of these cases where the cop has acted as improperly as the defendant claims, I won't hold my breath.

They won't make it to the last step but I'm sure some big shot lawyer could have them go see a Dr and they could've sustained injuries, pain and suffering, mental anguish, etc.

Future advice- if the cop says leave, "just a sec, let me do something else first" rarely goes over well. Also, "cursing at citizens" though probably frowned upon isn't a thing worth playing up

If your friends are poor then no, nothing will ever happen unless the media sensationalizes it. If your friends are white then truly nothing will ever come of it.
What you saw is just a minor example of the sort of blatant disrespect for citizens that happens when government enforcers can basically do whatever they want without any serious reprocussion, and a large portion of those citizens will defend them to the bitter end.
