We have one guy who read some dumbass blog where the writer recommends that you should put all of your players on the bench every week.
Rodgers? Bench
Brees? Bench
Murray? Bench
On Sunday, he would go through the process of picking his starters. I can see some merit to that if you have several average starters and you're trying to pick the best lineup, but all it takes is one mistake..
So.. In W15, the noon games kickoff. I get a text from the guy playing him..
I click over to the site and, sure enough, his entire roster is on the bench. He got busy and forgot.
If he had done nothing, his starters would have defaulted to his W14 starters. However, since he physically benched the starters himself, it defaults to the his last input: Zero starters.
For shits and giggles, we calculated his score based on his W14 starters in his W15 matchup. Had he done nothing, he wins the semifinal matchup by 10 or so points.
His team was still battling for 3rd place. He did the same idiocy again (keeping them benched until the last minute) but managed to put in a full lineup. However, he had his arse handed to him 160-125 or so.
The championship game saw both guys shite the bed in a low scoring 80-74 final.
So, following some retarded blog caused him to go from 1st and about a $1,000 payday, to nothing.
I mean, why not just put in preliminary lineup on Thursday, and log in on Sunday and do the whole benching thing then? It accomplishes the same thing but guarantees that you have a full lineup should you pass out in the Quarter after a Saturday night bender.
We are going to give this guy shite until he's dead.

My opponent didn't set his roster. Looks like I get the win by default.

What's the reasoning (retarded or not) behind it?

I guess it's not locking in on certain players and looking at each week's matchup.
However, you end up starting the same 7-8 out of 9, anyway, so it's not the best method; especially when you wait until the last minute to submit a lineup on Sunday.
