Post office beats UPS and FedEx for packages

This is from consumers reports. In cost and reliability the the USPS beats the so-called better private industry.

Interesting that solvency was not one of the factors considered. I wonder how the USPS would have performed if they had to break even much less not be a parasite on the taxpayers.

Does UPS & FedEx have billions on UNFUNDED liabilities in health care and retirement benefits?

UPS and FedEx get government subsidies in the form of the interstate high way system, US federal highways, state highways and county and city roads. They also enjoy government services in air-traffic control. So the idea that UPS and FedEx are totally private and get no help from the taxpayers is false. They can also enjoy taxpayer funded courts to help settle disputes they have and tax-payer supported snow plows on roads. So once again they are also parasites.

this is definitely not my experience. In fact, the USPS flies their mail in here on commercial carriers, the same one UPS uses.

Well they do get billions of government subsidies and tax breaks in the form of roads and federally regulated airways and a lot of local and state governments have given them tax breaks.

The opposite is more common. UPS and FedEx transfer packages to the post office for home delivery.

Sorry you are wrong.
My neighbor cashed in two years worth of sick leave several years ago to "speed up" her retirement from the USPS. She was kind of lazy and dumb.

I'm curious if you have the figures detailing the amount of corporate taxes paid by each organization to help fund all of these "subsidies."

You and I pay a far larger share of the gas taxes to fund roads and you pay federal taxes on your plane tickets to support the infrastructure in airports and federal regulation of airways for safety.
Federal employees pay taxes on their income.
No private industry in this country is free of taxpayer paid government subsidies.

In some cases of extreme rural delivery where the zip code is not serviced by FedEx or UPS this may occur. But not nearly enough to make a difference is service metrics for anyone. However, a FedEX air flight loaded down with USPS freight arriving on time, every time, will make the numbers look great.
