One of my leagues is looking for something to fill the void and we are thinking about trying out baseball.

How is it?

Do you set your lineup for the week on Monday?

You can play in a daily league or a weekly league.

I prefer it to football, I believe it gives a true champion and not as fluky.

The few I have been in you can change your lineup daily. It's a lot to keep up with due to travel days, rest days & injuries.

Yea, I would have to do a weekly league.

Daily would be insane.

I feel the buy in should be substantial just because of how long the MLB season is.

How long is the draft? How many rounds?

usually about 16 - 20 rounds.

It's a big change from football so be aware if you've never done it before it's pretty laborious.

It's not just the daily grind of setting a lineup, it's the race for closers every night. It's the constant twitter alerts. It's knowing not only the roster of 32 teams, but knowing the next big call up in the farm system.

With Football, you can be up to date on everything by the time SNF comes on and you still have Monday and Tuesday to figure out your next move. Baseball, you have to be on the trigger constantly.

Not saying it isn't fun, but if it's a new concept for you, then it's a really big change.

Remember if you do a weekly league, once you've set your lineup (or forget to), you're done...injuries and all.

Similar to fantasy basketball in a sense. It's a bigger grind and you need to be more attentive, but it's the best fantasy sport if you have the stomach for baseball.

Awesome but you better be dedicated checking your team DAILY. A lot more strategy then say football. A first timer will not win his first or second year with experienced managers.

Fantasy baseball makes it easier to stomach baseball.

Fantasy baseball is the real deal....separates the men from the boys. Fantasy football is fun, but it's prone to too much luck...very little skill involved.

A lot more skill involved than football.

Off days in baseball are always on Mondays or Thursdays. You can set your daily lineup for the whole week, just make sure to keep an eye on Mondays and Thursdays to replace players with off days.

Makes an incredibly boring sport a little more interesting

explain how someone who didn't watch a single inning of baseball, hadn't in about 10 years, and didn't know names of players outside the first round, won the first annual Pelicans Talk baseball league? Am I just that good of a fantasy player?

Because every fantasy sport is fluky and has a great amount of luck involved

I like how everyone in here is saying that it's the true fantasy sport with little luck. It's making that championship seem even more impressive

I think you're misinterpreting Tots. There's a big difference in saying it requires more skill than football as opposed to saying it involves just a little luck.

You don't have to know baseball that well. You just have to check your roster regularly, replacing guys with days off and playing your hottest players. It's less fluky in that one or 2 injuries won't ruin your season.

you did work on the wire by streaming pitchers. you may not have watched games but you looked at stats and put the time in to make the right pick ups. and yea im still bitter about it.
