quote:

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office released a report Monday that indicates former Milwaukee Police Officer Christopher Manney‘s “use of force” in the shooting death of 31-year-old Dontre Hamilton was “justified self-defense and that defense cannot be reasonably overcome to establish a basis to charge Officer Manney with a crime.”

quote:

The attorney for Hamilton’s family released on Monday, December 1st Dontre Hamilton’s autopsy report, toxicology report and cause of death. The autopsy report lists 21 gunshot wounds — and that includes entry and exit wounds. Hamilton’s death was ruled a homicide by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office. That ruling means Hamilton died at the hands of another. A toxicology report released with the autopsy report shows there were no drugs in Hamilton’s system when he died.

so 14 shots were fired...
then so was the cop

If you are going to pull it once, you may as well empty it.

As many as it takes for the threat to be stopped.

21 gun shot wounds tells me he probably shot it a lot more than that. so we're talking about how many shots exactly? maybe 30?

ETA: some have pointed out it was 14 shots with 21 entrance exit wounds.

He was clearly within his right to defend himself. The question that is coming up is that is 14 shots too much?

Until the person is no longer a threat

Might be excessive

"On April 30th, Hamilton was sleeping in Red Arrow Park. Then-Officer Christopher Manney was performing a welfare check, and police say Hamilton grabbed Manney’s baton and struck him with it. That’s when Christopher Manney opened fire, shooting Hamilton 14 times."

Once a reasonable decision is made that his life is in jeopardy, anyone (including police officers) should be able to fire as many shots as needed to END the threat. In a life or death situation, ending the threat means making sure the other party is dead.

In other words, there is no limit.

so does that mean there were 21 holes in the body or 42?

for him to fire 21 shots there would have likely been a reload unless he had a really high capacity magazine.

21 tells me he isn't using the typical police issued glock 40 caliber. Wonder what the hell he was shooting, FN 5.7 will hold 20+1 and that's what the secret service carries, but they're too high to be issued out by a police dept.

Since he wasn't out of his mind on PCP, id imagine way less than 21 bullets would be enough to stop him from hurting that supercop.

Not a cop but if I draw my gun I am firing until the threat is neutralized. I can't imagine having to reload and my clip holds 15 rounds.

Says the 21 wounds recorded included entry and exit wounds, so doesn't sound like he reloaded.

The mke shooting was arguably the most egregious of the bunch. No idea why Ferguson got the attention of the sharptons when mke was way more sympathetic case to the victim

There was no threat, DH was sleeping in a park and two cops had already checked him out and moved on.
