I don't know, but they should make I-12 at least 3 lanes all the way to Slidell.

Thanks for the serious, thought-out reply.

It was worth it to get the typical OT responses to an "old" topic. The hypocrisy of which is that their responses are just as redundant.

Bro, do you even construction in BR?
Yeah. 7 years is way too soon I guess. I was trying to be nice.
It took nearly 10 years to widen I-10 and that was only a few miles... I don't even want to think about how much time it would take for them to do a whole loop

15?

But really, the big hurdle with I-10 was dealing with the traffic and working. Building a whole new road can, at times, go smoother. The most recent examples of this are the Central Thruway and Hwy 10 and the Audubon bridge between New Roads and St. Francisville.

No Loop,

Interstate Expansion.

Only poor blacks and chain restaurants reside along I-10 in BR.

Buy out the restaurants at fair price, and blacks at a quarter on the dollar, (they'll go to NBR).

Eases traffic, no need for loop.

This was an Edwin Edwards-esque pay-off project. It serves very few people and doesn't appear to be designed to handle loop-type traffic diversions.

There will be one someday but it will be so late that it will already be under designed/obsolete

One of those restaurants is Georges, owned by a long-time city councilman and possible future mayor. There will be no widening of I-10 as long as he's in power because it would force him to move his bar.

Green US Senator in DC won't help too much either.

I frequently cross it without seeing a single car between river road and the light at 61.

I'm not interested in politics, but isn't an interstate a federally funded & state approved project?

I always figured the gubm't could just say frick it. "Here's what were giving you to build an interstate through here".

I'm probably wrong though.

It could handle a loop, because it's so far out of the way that no one would use it.

The northern loop should utilize the Huey P. Long Bridge (Hwy 190), cut through Glen Oaks, cross the Amite south of Greenwell Springs, and reconnect with I-10 between Denham and Walker.

The Southern loop should cross the Amite near Hoo Shoo Too road, roughly follow Bayou Manchac to the river, cross at Plaquamine to connect with LA 75. The "Western Loop" could come at a later date, possibly upgrading LA 1, LA 77, or LA 415 to interstate grade.

Yep, they already have one. It goes from Lafayette directly to New Orleans.

That's a project (I-49) that will also never happen anytime soon either

Doubt it. I'm completely boycotting all Baton Rouge businesses until they get a loop; going on 2 years now. I hate even driving through that shithole on my way to superior Louisiana cities.
