If only your team put as much as effort into playing as you do posting, y'all might actually stand a chance vs us one year instead of always getting smoked.

Yes, that is my point.

Why was it realistic to land him at Auburn? Because Auburn is a better program than us.

Why is Auburn a better program? Because they have had more success.

Where they always a better program? No, at one point they didn't have that success and then they did eventually thanks to great coaching.

How did Auburn get those great coaches that lead them to success? They hired them.

If we don't try to do better, we will never do better. That is the only way to break out of the caste system that is college football.

I feel you. I enjoyed reading Wincy boards when the coach left for OSU. Rubbernecking is part of the fun in the offseason.

Seems to me that Foster is still in play. His buyout is only 150K. I'm guessing that whether or not he's our next DC largely depends on what happens at Michigan.

safely the HC in waiting at VT and doesn't want to trade that for a few dollars more - lateral move...

I'm betting he's not all that "in play".

It is not a "lateral move" IMO. Coaching at a big time SEC West program is a step up from coaching a small market ACC team. Just my opinion.

I also don't think Foster is going to be hired as the next HC, and when he gets passed over he will look up at the Ags, and he'll shout "SAVE ME" and Kevin Sumlin will whisper "No."

That may be true, however that would have been the case from the start and he was never going to sign with us anyway. I don't buy that. All I'm saying is that just because he signed an extension does not mean that he's totally off the table. He may be for other reasons, but I don't presume his personal career asperations.

I'm guessing that he is Sumlin's #2 choice to either Chavis or Durkin. If Harbaugh takes the Michigan job, Durkin probably is off the table. If Miles takes the job, Chavis might be on the table.

May in fact happen, but Sumlin won't be the Coach cause he will have been fired for sucking in the SEC West.

Foster sees this and has more stability @ VT

I don't either, all I'm saying is as HC in waitings go, he has one of the more obvious ones at his lap, and Beamers retirement has been a recent subject.

really I could see that happening, more easily. Foster could have easily already taken a "career move" like Odom just did from Mizzou, if he was all about moving up. Seems like he see's his future at VT now, like you I'm not presuming his career aspirations, only observing what was possible.

Also noting Foster is already something like 55 years young, so his meteoric rise to the top days are behind him.

All it takes is one great player to make Sumlin a COTY candidate. See: Football, Jonathan F

That can only take you so far............then you really have to coach when the ONCE IN A LIFETIME TALENT doesn't come........Sumlin's history states he can't field a D, its in his coaching DNA at this point.

You do realize their won't be another JFF @ A&M for 50 years.
