So get a Roman Harper clone?
Bush is as good if not better right now than Collins and is under contract. Why on Earth would you draft a player to take that position who will be a liability?

Exactly. Makes no sense. We need o line first and foremost however we can get them whether it's via draft, trade, or free agency.

Both lines are the priority and we need safeties with mor versatility than LC

I had a dream that I hung out with Michael Jordan for a while in a hospital waiting room. We talked about his time in north Carolina and playing against the 1983 coach V's state team.

Collins is far from the one trick pony he's labeled as. He's just been beaten in coverage in some big moments like the ole miss game, but overall the guy has been solid in coverage throughout his career, you won't find a DB that's never been beaten. His miscues get blown out of proportion here because Lsu fans can't wait for him to slip up, so they're always looking for it to happen when bama is on.
If he was Landon Collins from Nashville TN then he's probably getting praised here for game sealing interceptions against MSU and Arkansas, thats just the nature of the beast. He's not a coverage specialist but he's a better all around safety coming out than Vaccaro and Reid were. Saints have bigger needs than Safety. I think best player available is the right draft strategy, but if you have a group of guys that graded out close then you take the one that best fills a need.

Why does anyone want a safety in the first?

Still doesn't mean you try to fill that in the first round. Dumb logic.

We tried to do that with Vaccaro already.

Worked out swimmingly too didn't it
This is a down year for safeties. If that's a need then it needs to be addressed in free agency, not the draft. As far as needs go though safety is down the board in New Orleans.

wanna start making a list of positions that worked out swimmingly in the first round that we can't go back to then? Now that is dumb logic.

So you think safety should be addressed in the first round? Not OL or DL or LB?
Collins may be the best player on the board when the saints pick, but it won't be by much over some of the guys that play the above positions.
Oakman, Fowler, Thompson, Beasley are all potentially on the board when the saints pick. All are a bigger need than a safety.

We'll have a group of positions we'd be open to and a group of players ranked by talent by our staff. Collins would be an interesting decision for saints if he's still on board at our pick

I had a dream that Landon Collins will be our 1st round draft pickCollins Byrd in the back, Vaccaro in the slot.

as they do most SS's in the NFL.
We shouldn't draft Deion Sanders, he's not good in run support.

He's the best safety in the draft by a large margin. If he isn't worthy of filling the role then the saints should definitely not draft a safety at all. He's definitely the best all around safety Saban has had at Alabama since Rashad Johnson. Plays the run as well as Barron and the pass as well as HCD. If you're going to grade a safety on how well they will cover Julio Jones and Mike Evans down the field then you're gonna be disappointed.

That's what we need. Another safety!!!!! CHAMPIONSHIP!!1!!11
