The things that Kentucky will do this year may shift that whole draft.
Mickey needs one more year.

I agree...draft express.com has no Mickey and Martin upper 2nd...
Posted on 12/21/14 at 7:50 am to doya2
Man Mickey, Martin and Benny would be sick. I really think these guys would be the favorite in the SEC and a favorite for final 4 if they stayed.

Not really. He's like JOB. His ceiling is probably mid to high 2nd round. That's not going to change if he comes back next year. He's an explosive leaper with a solid mid-range offensive game. The problem is that he's probably a few inches short of being an ideal NBA PF and his offensive game isn't dynamic enough to be a 3 at the next level.
I'd love for both he and Martin to come back. However, with Simmons coming in that would be 3 guys for 2 position. They're not all going to be on the court at the same time. (None of them are 5's and none want to play the 5). One will have to leave.

Sure they could, Benny can play the 3 easily with his ball handling skills, Martin at the 4 and Mickey at the 5...
Posted on 12/21/14 at 7:59 am to Tiger Nation 84
Glad that was easy to read.
Doesn't matter, Martin sounds like he is gone if there is a chance he gets drafted in the 1st round. Which if he keeps playing how he has, he'll be in that area.

Martin does not have NBA game at this point . It doesn't look good for him not being on the board anywhere this year . He's got to become more consistently dominant to get there.
Posted on 12/21/14 at 8:04 am to wallowinit
A good final 4 run could put him and mickey in the first round next year IMO
Posted on 12/21/14 at 8:04 am to Tiger Nation 84
We will be lucky to keep one of Mickey/Martin

Here's a crazy idea, stay in college and be great college basketball players. All they need to do is look at their buddy JOB. We are two months into the NBA season, and he has 2 career points. Why not stay at LSU and leave a legacy? Those guys have a chance to do something special and always be remembered at LSU. Leaving early is not going to help their NBA prospects.

Sometimes they want that dough as quick as they can get it.

What an incredibly messy post.

Martin = great athlete...great potential...not there yet.
Lot's of work to get there.

Mickey is totally different than JOB.
That's ridiculous to compare the two. Mickey's ceiling is much higher and he could improve in college. JOB is at his ceiling.

I'll never understand kids who leave early when they clearly aren't ready, and want to go to the pros as a project. They will both have very good European careers, but that's not why you leave school early
Posted on 12/21/14 at 9:51 am to munchman
Only "first" round contracts are guaranteed! 2nd rounders have to make the team...

How much does that pay?

Well, to be fair, he was injured to start the season. But, he also has a 6 figure salary to go along with those two points

This is always a selfish statement made by fans. Why should a kid with offers to make life changing money stay in school just so some people unknown to him (i.e. fans) can enjoy watching him play for their favorite team?
I'd never fault a kid for staying in school if that's what he really wants to do. Conversely, I would never fault kid for jumping at an opportunity to make more money in one year that most people on here won't make in 10-20 years.
