TD Quote function question

I'm not sure if this is a setting on my computer or if it is something to do with tigerdroppings but sometimes when I highlight text in a post and click quote it quotes it with all the spacing that is used in what I am quoting, that is the format I desire. however, it seems to change sometimes to where if I highlight and quote text it removes all the spacing and bunches it together in one line. i'm not that tech savvy so this may be a pretty dumb question but is there a TD setting that toggles this on and off or is it a function on my computer?
