ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the 49ers are looking for a young offensive specialist to replace Jim Harbaugh as head coach. 49ers defensive line coach Jim Tomsula was originally believed to be the favorite to replace Harbaugh, but after watching quarterback Colin Kaepernick regress over the course of 2014, San Francisco may look to someone more offensively minded to lead the ship. Mort specifically mentioned Patriots OC Josh McDaniels and Broncos OC Adam Gase as possible candidates.

Update

quote:

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Falcons plan to fire coach Mike Smith after the season. La Canfora adds that "it would take a shocking playoff run to alter that scenario." This doesn't come as a surprise. Smith has been on the job for seven seasons now, but the team has taken a few steps back the past couple years. The Falcons are said to be looking at Broncos OC Adam Gase, Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, and Stanford coach David Shaw, among others, as replacements.

Why do NFL teams still insist on hiring Patriots and Manning OCs when everyone knows they don't matter?

McDaniels would be a

But Gase is really well respected around the league and would be a good hire.

Would be semi ironic if they hired Gase

Gase probably is still a no named assistant if Peyton doesn't chose the broncos and Harbaugh is the reason Peyton didn't chose the 49ers

Without Peyton, the broncos still start Tim Tebow for another season and Mike McCoy never gets the Chargers job which never opens up the offensive coordinator job for Gase.

"Hey guys, can you guys give me Tebows QB coach for the past two years...I want to hire him to be the offensive coordinator of a team even though no one has every heard of him because his offense has Tim Tebow at quarterback throwing punts"

Again, he's very well respected around the league and has been for awhile. But yeah you know more about how good a coach he would be than they do

Here's an article about him

I'm not talking about his coaching abilities at all dunce

If you can't recognize that his career path was accelerated 10 fold because Peyton manning chose the broncos, then you're just stubborn and wrong

I'm more responding to the general attitude that it's all Peyton and he's just along for the ride
