I don't really like the Hollywood blockbuster bandwagon that exists right now. The industry and the advent of all the technology, has kind of lost its way. It's become very franchise driven and superhero driven. I've never read a comic book in my life so I'm immediately at a disadvantage and I have no interest in that. So now it's time for us to step back. We're heading towards something of that scale.

Although it's ironic coming from him, I agree with what he said.

I always loved the Plinkett reviews, because George Lucas once said something nearly identical to that:

quote:

George Lucas: [from an interview in 1983] A special effect is a tool, a means of telling a story. People have a tendancy to confuse them as an end to themselves. A special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing.

Plinkett: You said it, brother. Wait, YOU said that?!

If that South Park episode was released today it would have Jackson raping Bilbo.

It's strange that I love the LOTR trilogy and have watched them so many times yet I never cared about the Hobbit movies and have not even seen them. From jump street the Hobbit movies just gave off a bad vibe and I never cared to see them.

I've pretty much gathered that my vibe has been proven accurate.

Brain tumor from all of the blue screen. He's too unaware for that to be ironic.

Viggo was right.

To be fair, Jackson never intended to direct The Hobbit. His passion was LOTR. Del Toro was supposed to direct The Hobbit but backed out when the studio had their money issues. Jackson was kinda forced into directing them and obviously his heart just wasn't in it like with LOTR.

yeah didn't he get almost $100M solely from settling the pay issue from LOTR for doing the hobbit movies?

that $100M doesn't count whatever he earned for doing the hobbit movies either
