re: What do you think about AR and AK pistols with arm braces?

Just to add, notice how the AR, in it's original design actually uses part of the stock to house the buffer tube. The AK does not have any functional internals past the receiver, and that is why AK's can have all of the cool side/underfolders, or in this case, a true pistol, without the appendage pointing off the back.

I see what y'all saying now.Reason i was asking was because when i went to order my lower i kept seeing "pistol lowers" under the AR category. I was confused as hell

Look, someone who has never been in close quarter combat.

Don't expect to hit anything past 50 yards
In my experience, no one actually shoots it like this, but it is how the manufacturers get around the ATF.
Typically folks shoot it regularly:

1. The Sig brace is a great way to skirt the unconstitutional NFA.
2. In many states one cannot have a loaded rifle in their car, the brace allows them to do so as the gun is a "pistol."
3. Great for folks who want SBR's but cant afford the $200 stamp and $50ish engraving. Used brace for about $80.
4. Great place holder while pending Form 1 approval.
I have a Sig brace and a SB47 brace. Both are used on rifles as when they are pending SBR approval.
The Bump Fire stock is great for those who cannot spend 10k on a transferable M16 and want to blow through ammo.
I applaud Sig for screwing with the ATF.

Never order a pistol lower. Most lowers bought with be called in/labeled as other or firearm. Remember, in the eyes of the ATF, once a rifle always a rifle.

I thought you couldn't have the vertical foregrip on a pistol, only the angled foregrip.

You are correct. Good catch. I just took that from google. One of the pistols on page 1 has a VFG as well.

I just realized what you are talking about... obviously these guys are idiots.

Regardless of the strap though it just did not feel quite right. You really need to turn the gun sideways to aim it right and it does not relieve much weight. It is quite difficult to hold steady as well, and even my buddy CJ agreed (and he is a much bigger man than I).
Maybe he should try shouldering it...

So is this firearm is illegal?
Posted on 12/18/14 at 5:21 pm to Shexter
Cannot tell from pic as that firearm could be a SBR. However, if it's a pistol it is illegal due to the vertical forward grip.

We talked about these a few months ago in an AK thread.
I'll be honest, I started this thread because I'm intrigued.
