His statement is consistent with the concept of "sin", which would lump all of those types of sinners together.

It would also include heterosexuals who have pre-marital and extra-marital sex, as well as gossipers, liars, and disobedient children.

When you Christians truly defend the lumping in of homosexuals with pedophiles, it is no wonder participation rates in organized religion are plummeting.

Shhhhh, don't help the kids out. They will never learn. Let them figure it out on their own.

There's a time and a place for everything. When it comes to discussing sin, it is perfectly acceptable to lump homosexuals in with pedophiles. The problem arises when people assume that homosexuality is "just as bad" as murder or pedophilia from a practical sense. Obviously not every sin is exactly the same, but sin is sin to God and all sin needs repenting of, from the adulterer to the liar.

Rationalize it all you want, but the numbers speak for themselves.

Then 'lump' in the countless actions that Christians believe will find you in Hell. Lustful thoughts, masturbation, eating red meat on the Sabbath, or whatever other crazy activities they think are wrong.

Masturbators and pedophiles can be lumped in together...no?

If you're referring to the "drop-out" rate for Christianity, then I won't argue there. It's perfectly understandable why so many people don't want to participate in a religion that has morphed into nothing more than a Tony Robbins self-help class with bad cover bands who wish they were rock stars.

The Church has strayed from the truth and has promoted a message that is unbiblical. Most of the churches these days either promote lawlessness ("we're under grace, not law"), and self-indulgence leads people away from Christ, or they promote legalism (made-up laws; "don't drink, smoke, or chew, and don't go with girls who do") which burns out most people and drives them away.

The truth of the scriptures doesn't change, though. I believe it is how it is presented (or not presented, as is the case these days) that is the biggest problem.

I didn't include an exhaustive list, but I thought my point was pretty clear that when you're talking about "sin", there is much more to it than homosexuality and murder. That's why I included fornication and lying, but there are tons of things that are included there, including the ones you mentioned.

Yes. Lust is lust and the only proper context for it is within marriage.

It's why I said it all requires repentance. Everyone sins and everyone needs to be in a constant state of repentance before God, including and especially myself.

The use of the number 69 in his name is a testament to his genius.

I hope you've never fapped, drank alcohol or even eat red meat of any sort if you really believe that all sins are equal in the eyes of god.

If you ask me, god has unrealistic expectations for humanity and is pretty judgmental.

I have, and like I said, I live in a continual state of repentance. That was sort of my point in saying everyone sins and everyone should be repenting.

That's also the point. The point of the law is to show people their need for a savior outside of themselves, because everyone sins.

What if you did all three at the same time? Asking for a friend.

It certainly is more dramatic to do it that way.

The point, though, is that homosexuality is just as much of a sin as pedophilia and murder; God doesn't grade on a curve.

But saying so automatically sets some people off, which is why you can't really can't make that comment by itself without additional context or explanation.

Based on the laws of the God who you just said created such laws to show people they need Him.

Circular logic is circular.
