So let me get this right....its "hackers" from N Korea threatening security at theaters in the US???

So if its "hackers" that are threatening how are they going to hurt people that go the theaters?? Are they gonna steal everyone's credit card data that swipes at these theaters on Christmas day??

How can they constitute a physical threat, they bluff us all the time saying how they are going to nuke us.

It's just propaganda to make their people think their gov't is strong.

I just don't see how Sony actually believes this threat could possibly materialize into anything.....

Make them watch Michael Bay movies on repeat until they eventually all just kill themselves from insanity

There must be some really damning emails sent out by high ranking executives. That's the only reason I can believe that they went ahead and canceled the release of the movie.

Hackers must have found evidence of a Sony "Eyes Wide Shut" style party and the Sony execs are freaking out that the pics of them blowing each other on a yacht is gonna get released.

That's literally the worst thing that could come of this.

im thinking that the US gov't is using this because they're becoming sooo PC that they feel we shouldn't make light of killing foreign leaders and they don't want it shown

Hbottom line is that the damage is done. The info is already stolen.

If N Korea is the source and they used proxies I.e. China then it's simply electronic warfare. There were threats of physical 9/11 violence. That would be foolish because then it's state sanctioned warfare.

The execs at Sony felt ther other items yet to be leaked (and can STILL BE leaked at any time) are damaging enough to the company.

I don't buy for a second that safety played a part at a theatre level. If there were attacks at theaters we would instantly be in a shooting war with the Koreans. Even they aren't crazy enough to do that.

Sony pusses out.

Keep calm and carry on.

Oh wait, it's only fun to say, not actually do.

They're not going to physically do a damn thing to anyone. The threat was that they have a massive collection of data on Sony employees(CEOs, upper management, all the way down) like credit card info, SSN, address, phone numbers, family info, etc and they would release all that to the public if the film was shown.

This has nothing to do with protecting theater goers, and everything to do with Sony people CTA.

Whatever, Team America World Police was the better North Korea mock film anyway.

That was never actionable without starting a war.

that's why i think this whole thing is fishy

some people are saying cyber threat on sony execs

some articles are saying physical threat

MY TAKE:

our gov't is cancelling it because they think making light of killing a foreign leader is taboo and they are a bunch of pussies, so they made this whole story up

You think someone willing to do things like this cares if it starts a "don't cross the redline" staredown..?

It was a blowhard statement. N Korea never would have physically harmed anything. If they did, the country would have been destroyed. Self preservation rules for them.

It's not the US Govt backing down, it's a corporation.

There does need to be an action by our government on this though.

I honestly think they are also more scared of what might happen to them than the US. Aren't a lot of sony executives in/from Japan?
