the other thing I think that makes the industry unique is there isn't a precise understanding of the service you're offering.

Some people expect beyond what they should and become livid when they don't get it. It is also more prone to mistakes, etc. and people aren't very forgiving.

people who are dicks to fast food workers are probably the worst...especially when they bring up the "you're a fast food worker, so what do you know" thing. Demeaning someone's job is about the tackiest thing you can do

I don't think i could last a week dealing with a-hole customers. I'm always very nice to my table servers and tip well

some servers are also kind of dicks, there's a particular restaurant on oak st, closest I've ever come to not tipping someone, but I realize he'd probably been taking it up the arse all day...it's a rough business...and one bad table can frick your day, then you just start hating your customers before you even talk to them.

My favorite is to hear people complain about generic bland food from a restaurant that specializes in something completely different.
