With over 1 million interactions between police officers and the public you will have bad things happen, but the percentage of those things that happen are pretty low. We have over 700K police officers in America. Let's say we have a 10% rate of police officers that have no business being in this job due to character issues, mental issues or some other reason. That would put 70K "bad" police officers out there. If we had 70K of the bad apples out there wouldn't we have a lot more bad incidents happening? Less than 1% of these interactions lead to a violent encounter and most of those are justified. I have been accused of being all kinds of things that ranters accuse cops of being on here, but the videos and my actions have always proved that I had a reason to do what I did.

Accepting your numbers purely for the sake of argument, the problem is all the good cops protecting the bad cops and not policing their ranks. It ultimately makes all of them bad.

Accepting a myth doesn't make it true--- see Mike Brown.

What's ironic is the liberals and the useful idiots following the liberal drumbeat would be the first ones crying for protection if they got their wishes of no more police.

In America, if you are whiney, you deserve to have armed governmental officials beat you.

What myth and how does an overarching discussion hinge on Mike Brown? See: Tamir Rice. See: any of the other links provided by REG, etc.

Nobody wishes that....how about a wish for a lawful, respectful police force that is held accountable for its violence against citizens?

How many t-shirts were sold by cops regarding any of the other links?

The point isn't the T-shirts. It's cops and their enablers trying to defend/justify the recent spate of atrocities by saying, 'just obey the law and you'll be safe.' That clearly isn't the case. Recent events show that you can be killed while shopping or in your own goddamn home.

So we don't have this now? Cops are just running around killing black people at will, for no reason? If you believe this you are one of the useful idiots. Don't feel bad, you have plenty of company it's becoming cool these days. Nobody wishes this? You sure about that?

In the case regarding this t-shirt that is exactly the point. The fact that almost every rebuttal to this t-shirt involved another incident is very telling.

that cops repeatedly take advantage of their power to beat the living shite out of people and kill people in an unjustified manner, yes, it is very telling

I really abhor the anti-cop rhetoric coming from these dweebs. I think it all stems from their dope-addled minds.

I say it's more immaturity than "dope-addled minds." We're not becoming a "police state" simply because some LEO asks you to get out of your car and show i.d. when performing a traffic stop. This issue has been settled by the courts.

I believe they've been empowered by the truly useful idiots (go find a mirror) to act as they currently do. I don't care for the racial aspect as there are many instances where the victims of police violence are white. And you shouldn't feel bad about empowering foot soldiers of the state as you have. As you can see from this thread your ranks are legion.

Unless they use their power to make you buy this shirt, what does that discussion have to do with this one?

The point I'm making is that you and several others are using strawmen.

No we're not...the thread strayed from just the subject t-shirts and the city council asking the cop not to sell the shirts.

They aren't strawmen. There is a recently occurring phenomenon of cop killings under dubious-at-best circumstances. We are viewing this instance within that context. This is a bullshite PR stunt by the cops.

Really? Link to a cop selling a t shirt regarding an incident where the cop(s) were not cleared. I'll wait. Since there are no strawmen arguments you should have a link in no time.
