Why is Russ at least a foot shorter and younger in this movie? The same can be said about Uncle Eddie's children too.

If they are in Chicago, how are they able to take a day trip to the mountains to find a Christmas tree?

Why would this be sent as certified mail on Christmas Eve?

Why is everyone absolutely petrified of a squirrel?

How did the neighbors not call the cops after their psychotic neighbor caused so much property damage to their home?

Why would Hughes gives us a very, very veiled glimpse of Ellen's tits rather than just show her topless?

the cereal lacquer was also a home flame retardant that Clark had the foresight to spray his home with.

The jelly of the month wasn't supposed to be delivered that night. The delivery guy had dropped it in his truck at an earlier time and didn't see it. He then realized it and dropped it off.

I don't disagree. Great thread. However, if you read page 25 and 26, you'll notice that we have started critiquing other John Hughes movies because they are as badly unrealistic as Home Alone.

Since it's the Christmas season, why not start a Christmas Vacation overanalyzation thread as well?

What was Mary's background? She wasn't married. Surely she didn't work in the department store full-time. Was she back from college for the holidays and working to make a few extra dollars? Single mother working a 2nd job to put her kid in day care? She was damn strong lingerie salesman, and had Russ not interrupted the demonstration, I know Clark would have dumped more of that bonus check on some of the merchandise Mary was selling.

Walt should retain counsel and file an EEOC claim against Frank Shirley and his employer. "Greaseball" is a derogatory term used to deman Clark and his early English heritage.
