Why are the buttons on a woman's shirt reversed?

While I was throwing on this sweater, I purchased in the Womens' department at Walmart, I could not get the damn thing buttoned. The fricking buttons were on the wrong damn side. Why must women be so difficult and have buttons on the wrong side of their shirts?

I demand equality!

Because back in the day, women were dressed by maids and servants. Having the buttons on the opposite side made it easier for them to button up the clothes.

It's to give you one last reminder that you have made the wrong decision and are wearing a blouse or woman's sweater.

Why do you continue to blur your face out? We all know what you look like.

I thought it was because the men were dressed by their wives or servants. So the men's buttons were made opposite.
