Most executive actions since Harry Truman, or MOST EVER memoranda, and the most combined executive actions since Harry Truman of WW2 fame.

Gregory Korte, USA TODAY

By issuing his directives as "memoranda" rather than executive orders, Obama has downplayed the extent of his executive actions.

Washington-President Obama has used a form of executive action known as the presidential memorandum more than any other president in history-using it to take unilateral action even as he has issued fewer executive orders.

When these two forms of directives are taken together, Obama is on track to take more high-level executive actions than any president since Harry Truman six decades ago.

He has used memoranda to make policy on gun control, immigration and labor regulations.

Like executive orders, presidential memoranda don't require action by Congress. They have the same force of law as executive orders and often have consequences just as far reaching.

===============================

The rest of the USA TODAY story can be read online ( I had it written and it disappeared )

So, Obama's people cry that he isn't using his executive powers, but these reporters have exposed that as JUST ANOTHER OBAMA LIE.

Everything about this administration is done in secret or cloaked in deception. Obama is a liar who's house of cards is built on lies.

The justice dept issued opinions saying it's legal. Why are you questioning or complaining about legal actions of the executive???

Keep up liberal dummy. Go read the full article.

Every time your president or his minions spout off about using the least Executive Orders of any president since Truman, what the liar doesn't tell you is he is using memorandum orders at an alarming rate 198 in six years compared to Bush's 130 in eight years.

No one is saying that presidential memoranda's aren't legal, we are just saying this President is using them in a manner more often used for E.O.'s, hence hiding the amount of total executive action he is taking. Then lying about it.

As per his amnesty directive, he admitted he changed the law, the courts will strike his action down because the Justice Departments opinion was wrong according to the facts.

Am I the only one not alarmed by this difference? Looking at the number of executive orders done by prior presidents compared to the difference in memorandums here, which aren't all even close to executive orders, the number is still small. Sounds like semantics to me and another pathetic effort to paint Obama as a communist non American dictator. He's done a hell of a job get over it.

Point being the Liar and his crew have stated they are far behind all recent presidents on Executive orders, but they don't tell the full truth and when adding all the EXECUTIVE ACTIONS together Obama is on a pace to pass all presidents executive actions since Harry Truman, who was a WW2 president.

In other words when the conservatives/Republicans and Tea Party say that Obama is redoing/reshaping our country through fiat/executive orders, then the truth of the matter according to this story is HE DMNED WELL IS, so yes it matters.

the Liar

Remember when bush promised the patriot act would only allow spying on international calls? Remember when he said there would be no domestic calls spied upon? I do.

Remember when the facts came out that domestic calls were targeted immediately after the pa was "passed"? I do.

I don't remember you calling a bush a liar though.... Perhaps your myopia is rearing its head again. Obama has done the same but his critics, those like you, expose their hypocrisy with stories like the one in your op. Wake up.

There is only one problem with your thesis, it is wrong. You man Obama is the one who used the Patriot Act to spy upon all of us.

The author of the Patriot Act stated that the act Obama has been using is not the act he signed off on.

They changed the act, updated it, and the democrats are the guys who spied on all of us.

I'm not here to win an argument or feel like or say that I'm right and you're wrong. I don't agree with domestic spying in any way. But I will say this , please research this. Look into this, and it will open your mind a bit, it did mine. Within months of passing the pa domestic spying was widespread, under bush.

That being said, Obama expanded the pa and I am 100% against that... but please understand that the machine was well oiled before he even came close to stepping into office... And bush lied about it.

This is just another example of "changing the definition" to make his actions seem legitimate. Same as his "deportation" numbers are inflated because stopping someone at the border is now included in the deportation numbers.

His whole presidency is built around lies. Obamacare....deficit neutral....you can keep your plan/doctor.....on and on and on.
