Per Scout. LINK

What's yall thoughts? Apparently it is between us Ole Miss and Tennessee. He is also and early enrollee which (if Hunter bolts for the draft) puts him in a good position to see playing time right away.

Based on his reactions after each visit basically saying Tiger Stadium was the best visit he has ever had and there was no place like it...

I'm like 70% confident that he chooses us.

Not good if it is this week. Just my opinion. I may be 100% wrong but that makes me worried.

He pushed his announcement back to the Army All-American game yesterday IIRC.

Possibly a good sign for us (or Old Miss).

I'd say 45% for LSU.

Negatives are distance and both OM and TN have shown they can compete with anybody in recruiting on select recruits they chose to put the resources/time into.

Positives are Chavis, LSU's record for DL, LSU's record for DL of his build, and that visit.

He's announcing during the Army All American game. Wouldn't surprise me if he pushes it even further back though.

It'll be interesting to see what Amadi does if Phillips announces at the game. They're cutting things close as EE's.

he may tell the coaches and the school, but ask them not to release it.

I'm thinking Tennessee. They will rise in the next couple of years IMO.

Yeah, I'm not sure UT's momentum will slow down with them getting his last OV.

ETA: OP may want to edit the thread title.

I'm starting to feel like LSU ends up with Phillips, Ugo and Dylan Jackson.

Firing Chavis really is the gift that keeps on giving.

Optimistic?

You mean pessimistic.

Jackson is gone to LSU. Phillips, Ugo and Jackson have all talked about playing together. LSU has an immediate need at DE, while also having a better overall defense (obviously). If these guys were all in a Neutral state, it would be a no brainer. Our ONLY advantage is distance.

The strange thing is that Chavis has become your "ace" out of state recruiter. Adding his pulls to the LA and East TX guys and you have a solid group. At some point his recruiting "reputation" has got to change, right?

So was Tony Brown last year and he announced at the UA All American Game. All they have to do is apply for enrollment if they are an EE ahead of time and it's a done deal.

For those that look at anything but the surface Chavis has a very good reputation for recruiting. I think much of it is that he coaches up the guys he recruits, so the coordination between the two is excellent.

But you are right, there is "that" perception of Chavis as a non-recruiter for the most part. It took Clifton Garrett last year to jolt many out of that. If you are a high school defensive player, his personality is what you expect a defensive coach to be. "Gruff" is the first adjective to apply.
