Went a place tonight and did an order over the phone for a meal totaling $33. At the end the guy told me to come in and ask for Sean when I pickup the food. Went in and Sean helped me out and got me the food and I paid but did not tip. Does this make me a POS?

Not the usual %. I usually throw them like a dollar.

I never tip on carry out. In fact, I did just what you did an hour ago.

A little more if they come out to the car and bring you the food.

I do but I'm not a fan. If there's a line for a tip I always tip.

From what I understand the servers have to take out time to prepare carry out orders & they can be a bigger pain.. Therefore I always tip on carryout

Sean would have gotten $6 or 7 dollars from me.

Someone in the industry can clear this up , but it seems Sean had to take time from his tables , find take out plates & bring into the carry out area(instead of your table).

As someone who used to work as the guy who gives you food on a take out order, they don't deserve tips. I don't think one tip that I got was warranted for the amount of work that I had to put in.

ETA: I still tip on take out orders though just because I know how awesome it is to get a dollar for not doing anything.

Yes I do.

Now with one of the restaurants that the wife and I like picking up food from, they hook us up everytime now because I have tipped so many times in the past. The staff always gives me extra free stuff now.

It's not free if you paid for it

No.

I'll generally tip a couple dollars on stuff like this just to be nice.

I don't mind, especially for some of the restaurants I frequently get take out from and see the same kid working and doing a good job.

I never tip. Why should restaurant workers get paid to stand behind the restaurant, smoke, and bitch about me?
