Credit given to the Sens. Kirk and Johnson, hanging in there all day , in their weakened conditions, each with one side of their body shut down, struggling with their canes, and displaying such strong wills. Hats off to these men for their perseverance and courage on a very long and demanding day.

Last year's was particularly noteworthy for me, as my 65th birthday was 11-12-13.

FLASH. Just starting to call the roll on a vote to go back into Executive Session. Is that 24 times now?

Is it possible that Sen Ted Cruz & Sen Mike Lee gonna pull this thing off?
Getting obama's EO on amnesty defunded?
Getting obama-scam defunded?

Much appreciation to Cruz & Lee.

Cruz is fake, all about good speeches but short on real actions.
I really can't see a good politician at the moment.
JMHO.

You can't be serious. It backfired on them, will now allow all those Obama nominees that the Republicans had kept from a vote to get one and be approved. Reid is laughing his arse off over that maneuver.

Anyone want to explain what's going on? I've been out of the political loop for awhile.

Very long story. There were more than 40 procedural votes in the Senate today, switching from executive session to legislative session and back again more than 20 times. The Senate will be voting in the next few minutes to pass the CRomnibus Bill. It will all be over tonight. Then on Monday, the Senate will now be able to confirm all those judicial and executive nominees that the Republicans had thwarted before Cruz and Lee tried a political maneuver that played right into Reid and Obama's hand, and will result in approval of nominations that the Republicans could have prevented after January 3rd. There will be no vote on Cruz' proposal to have a vote on the executive action on immigration because the precursor to his motion was just defeated by 52 votes.

CRomnibus just passed the Senate in the same form as it came over from the House, with no changes. Defense Bill passed yesterday, 11 agencies get appropriations for FY 15 (through 9/30/15) approved tonight, while Homeland Security appropriations only approved through the end of February so that republicans can fight this battle when they have a 54-46 majority.

The House has completed its business for the 113th Congress and is adjourned until noon on Tuesday, unless the Senate adjourns its congressional activities prior to that time and so advises the House. The Senate still has work to do early next week (executive and judicial appointments, tax extensions for CY 2014 and a vote on TRIA.)

Thanks for the play-by-play.

Gumbo, you know I love the nuts-n-bolts and fine details of the political process, which most find boring! I actually watched the entire 10+ hours of the Senate proceedings today on C-Span, while also watching the FCS playoff game and then the Army-Navy game on another TV, completing two crossword puzzles and eating a creampuff and an eclair as appetizers to a meal of red beans and rice (I take the the old "life is short - eat dessert first" philosophy as seriously as I take my politics).

I was actually reading through The Congressional Globe last night regarding the impeachment of a TN judge during the War in 1862. It's amazing what's available on Congressional activities even going back that far. Also quite fascinating was a Missouri Congressman's predictions on what would happen if the Union allowed confiscation of real estate and other property in its actions against the Confederacy. He had some very prescient words.
Glad to know there's someone else who likes to get down in the weeds

I'm sure the Republicans passed it reluctantly and had to hold their noses! :

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon made calls to lawmakers on Thursday urging them to support the “cromnibus” spending bill, House Financial Services Committee ranking member Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) told reporters.
Dimon's involvement came amid progressive outrage that the House cromnibus included a provision that they said would weaken Wall Street regulations.
"I think we got hurt when Jamie Dimon and the president started to whip," Waters told reporters after the vote. "That's when I think we lost some votes."

Someone should tell the president that at some point in their lives, people should realize when they've made enough money.
