I've always wondered, do home teams boo the military academies when they visit?

Like if Navy or Army were to visit Ohio State or Alabama, do they get booed when they come on to the field like every other opponent?

Those two fanbases suck so it wouldn't surprise me. I would think they're generally shown respect though.

When I used to tailgate, before the game anyone was welcome to eat some food and share some drinks in exchange for good football talk.

During the game, opponents are always in for a good natured booing and ribbing.

After, they are welcome to food and drink.

OSU and Bama, probably not. If they visited Berkeley or Harvard, who knows.

Treat them like any other team. Nothing wrong with a little booing.

I'm 100% opposed to the whole "kiss my arse because I'm in the military" mentality, but I'd have a hard time booing the student-athletes of either Academy. Their experience in college is nothing like that of the typical college student or D1 athlete. It really is a pretty tough deal.

(Not an academy grad, btw).

You aren't booing them as people. It's not personal.

Surprisingly, Navy got a warm reception when they ran onto the field at OSU in 2009....and then damn near beat them.

If he takes a late shot at my QB, I'm booing him as a person.

I'll retroactively apologize if I find out he was awarded the Navy Cross or something a few years down the line.

If they ever come to LSU, we'll only boo the coaches -- unless they're Academy grads.

They shouldn't be immunized from being harassed by opposing fans just because they play for a service academy. They aren't booed for their decisions to serve this country, they are only booed for the hour that they stand in their capacity as opposing players to the teams that they play. Nothing wrong with it, IMO.

Navy was booed and peppered with "You suck!" chants when they stepped on the field for both halves. Toward the end of the second half, Rutgers students in the new bleacher section began to serenade the adjacent section of Navy fans and uniformed Midshipmen.

''F--- you, Navy. F---you, Navy. F--- you, Navy."

I'd boo the hell out of em. They're an opponent and I would want them to lose the game. Outside of those 60 minutes, I respect the hell out of them and give them the recognition they truly deserve.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. As for booing, I wouldn't be bothered by it, but I wouldn't do it myself. Each to their own, though

I wouldn't boo the academies. I would Tigerbait them though.

I also don't boo East opponents or OOC opponents.

I would not boo them when they entered the stadium, however during the game they are fair game.

i kind of wonder how Navy keeps having decent bowl teams with what have to be D3 athletes... they might be the biggest overacheivers in all of sports
