Im playing suikoden 1 right now and im enjoying it thus far. And I hear suikoden 2 is 10x better

Yes its a JRPG (My honest favorite ever. Better than FF7 IMO)

I've played a good bit of Suikdon III and the first. I have a copy of Suikoden II, but I haven't played it for obvious reasons.

so Im about 10 hours in (recently got my castle)
This game started off really strong, but right now the story is kind of dragging for me. Most of the things that have been happening were predictable and its starting to bore me. About how much longer do I have to play before things start to pick up

I would say the point you are at now until one of the main fights in the game is my favorite part of the game. Until you get the castle the game is very linear. After you can explore a lot more doing side quests to recruit characters.
Are you using a guide to get all the characters? I would suggest for the first play thru to not use a guide and see where you end up. Then play it again using the guide to get all the characters.

It's a great game, I played it on the original PS1. Collecting all of the characters is a lot of the fun. Some of them require some pretty bizarre things to obtain them too...it's a lot like Pokémon

Played it on the ps1 years ago, thinking of buying and playing it again. Great all around game. I've played most of the Suikoden games and I have to say the 3rd one is my favorite. Does all the things the 2nd does with a better overall plot. Some people didn't like the farm for your followers but i didn't mind it.
