Can anyone give a review? Or is it better to do monitoring through Transunion, etc?
TIA.

I do, I like it for the piece of mind. This is what happened to me.
My wife receives some random email from Walmart for a purchase that was completed online. We have never ordered anything from Walmart online much less even shop there. Long story short. Someone's information was tied to my wife's email address. She did have an old online account that she used to order pictures a long time ago, but never tied a credit card to the account or address. Well...A credit card, address, and phone number were all present from an address in North Carolina.
I contacted Lifelock and discussed the situation. A few days later we get a report from Lifelock saying nothing was found and they had used our social security numbers, address, phone numbers, bank info, and pretty much everything else you can think of someone could use. So Walmart f'ed up that person's purchase.
Their alert service is very quick. I've got it set to send me text messages for certain things. We recently opened an Amazon Credit Card and within 5 minutes of submitting the application I got a text. I had to log on to my LifeLock account to verify it was me.

Is it just alerts or do they do something to prevent the application from being submitted?
You could cancel a card shortly after, but seems that if someone takes a loan out in my name that the damage is already done.

What happens when I apply for credit?
After a fraud alert has been placed in your credit file, any creditor using that credit file to grant new credit or an extension of credit in your name must contact you by telephone (using the phone number specified in the fraud alert) or take reasonable steps to verify your identity and confirm that the credit application is not the result of identity theft. If someone else is trying to use your identity to get credit, the fraud alert usually stops them cold. We say "usually" because nothing is perfect. That's why we have our Service Guarantee.

I don't see how any service can stop it from being submitted (once the person hits submit, the app is submitted) but the service can prevent the application from being approved and a card issued.

Great info, thanks.
What level of lifelock do you use? I notice that there are 3. Also, how long have you had it?
