Searched and did not see post on this. What if there's some crazy stuff in there...alien stuff...

What would you put in one today?

quote:

The capsule is believed to include a collection of silver and copper coins dating from between 1652 and 1855; an engraved silver plate; newspapers; the seal of the Commonwealth; cards; and a title page from the Massachusetts Colony Records, according to Meghan Kelly, a spokeswoman for the Executive Office of Administration and Finance.

Not sure on what I would put in one, but that is cool as hell. I would love to have some of those coins. The oldest coin I hav e ever found while metal detecting was a 1695 one. Love finding those old coins and stuff like that.

They threw coins in there in 1855 when it was unearthed.
Some were washed in acid.

Also, they said they were gonna X-ray the box to see what's in it.

There won't be any headlines around that, sir. The animals won't come out and play...

That's ok - still would like to have them. Have never cleaned old coins in that form. Now, have used microwaved hydrogen pyroxide, but one has to be really careful doing that. Usually it is a bit of vasoline in the cleaning...

It said Paul Revere was there to close the capsule in 1798.

Probably will included some amazing technology, like an apple-corer.
