Reportedly, it will be widescreen, but they had to clean up a lot of offscreen stuff. It was shot in widescreen, but framed for 4x3. So, they had to scrub away some stuff and surely some of the shots will just be cropped.

Such a shame that it was framed for 4x3. Sorry to David Simon, but that was a terrible decision.

So that's why I was confused about how you could have HD 4x3.

So, now we get more stuff!

Wonder if we get any more revealing background stuff with this.

Disagree. Widescreen gives it a more "cinematic" look whereas 4x3 added to the gritty documentary aesthetic. Maybe it'll be better in widescreen HD but I have my reservations.

Don't forget about Rawls' "friend" calling his office when Daniels took over his old job.

I was listening to an interview with Simon once when he explained why Ralls' homosexuality was never developed further. It was something along the lines of he was just trying to show a small light into the guy's life to show him outside of his job as a cop. Kind of like, "This dude is just as 'normal' as everyone else in this crazy world and nothing is as simple as you want to believe."

And there was some "Rawls sucks cock" graffiti on one of the stalls. Landsman just kinda smirked.

They added the HD episodes to Amazon Prime then pulled them. Apparently they were finished in September but Simon or someone wanted to review them one more time before they were released.

Not sure if Amazon Prime will get them day 1 like HBO will but they should soon after.

I watched episode 4 of season 1 while it was briefly on Prime. It looked good. Not earth shattering but definitely the upgrade fans deserve.
