After reading the post about Boogie Nights I'm reminded of all the great movies that came out around that time and still remain my favorites. I was in my late teens and my taste in movies changed so much during those years.
Some of my favorites:
Boogie Nights
The Big Lebowski
Happiness
American Beauty
Fight Club
Being John Malkcovich
LA Confidential

Forgot about A Simple Plan, American Psycho and Zero Effect. Pretty good list there. I would add Frankenheimer's "Ronin" too

WTF! This movie makes me ill. I've hated poor Dylan Baker forever because of it.

It made me feel pretty sick after I watched it the first time. Its one of my buddy's favorites and after watching a few times I grew to love the performances. Jon Lovits small role and Phillip S. Hoffmann were so hilarious. And yes it was difficult for me to see Dylan Baker in other roles after Happiness too...

American Pie

Everyone remember the craze surrounding this movie? They actually checked IDs at the entrance to the theater. I remember going to see it and having attendants walking around before the show started asking to see peoples tickets and ID's too. All for a dude fricking an apple pie.
